Our Origins

Reeves & Associates Consulting and Training, Inc. is a small, minority/female-owned, Georgia based business, which is headquartered at 2296 Henderson Mill Road, Suites 101 & 102, Atlanta, Georgia 30345.

The company was founded by Rebecca K. Reeves in 1991 and, under her leadership, has served numerous government, education, allied health, public health and social services organizations in the areas of organizational development, strategic planning, facilitation, conflict mediation, needs assessment process design and implementation, professional development, and the application of brain research to human productivity. Ms. Reeves has extensive background in consulting and training. She was a Georgia Department of Education employee for eleven years prior to forming her own company.

The company was created to formally harness the tools, skills, and services that the founder provided as an independent consultant. Having the firm incorporated as a legal entity has boosted clients’ confidence that the services provided will continue to be of high quality and meet public scrutiny for the long term. In addition to maintaining a stable base of nearly 95 % of the original clients, the company’s development has led to diversifying services to government, public, and private for-profit and non-profit agencies and organizations.

A Word About Our Core “Education” Department

From inception, the Company has been anchored by our Education Department.

  • The Education Department has provided a variety of services to hundreds of schools and school districts for over 15 years.
  • Professional development, team building, program improvement, problem solving and school improvement have been at the core of much of our organization’s work with public and private schools.
  • Since the passage of the “No Child Left Behind” Act in 2001, our work with educators has been integrated into school improvement planning that involves both regular and special education programs. By design, we have specialized in working with so-called “high poverty schools,” many of which have been designated as Title I and enroll Students with Disabilities, and African-Americans who demonstrate significant gaps in achievement. During the last five years, Reeves and Associates has assisted in developing school improvement, corrective action, and restructuring plans that are calculated to close the achievement gaps of underachieving groups. Our unique approach to helping schools and school systems is one in which we offer professional development in the context of school improvement planning, team building, and topical workshops.

Sample services include:

  • Designed the Strategic Collaborative Planning System (SCPS) process to guide schools through comprehensive school improvement planning and plan blending. Implemented SCPS process in over 40 schools across Georgia, including Title I and Non-Title I Schools. Planning process involved representatives of all programs.
  • Facilitated the development of school improvement plans, corrective action plans, and restructuring plans as required under the federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
  • Facilitated the development of system-wide Title I Plans in compliance with federal Title I Program Standards.
  • Designed and implemented Project ALIGN (Assessing Learning and Instructional Goals Network). Project ALIGN uses special learning communities called “communities of practice” to identify and solve pertinent practice issues related to serving students with disabilities within each discipline.
  • Designed and assisted in the implementation of Project Team (Total Educational Assistance Model), a seven-step collaborative instructional, team teaching approach for students with disabilities, and Project Teacher for Teacher, a peer-teacher coaching model for team teaching in Fayette County School System. Both models were validated by the Georgia Department of Education in the late 1990’s for replication by other school systems.
  • Designed and conducted a 50 clock-hour interactive video course on collaborative instruction.
  • Designed principals’ institutes to conduct intensive, just in time, professional development on the implementation of collaborative instruction.
  • Developed a train-the-trainer professional development program to assist regular and special educators in implementing a peer-teacher coaching program to sustain and expand the implementation of collaborative instruction.
  • Provided professional development and on-going coaching for regular and special educators implementing collaborative instruction.
  • Coordinated and facilitated the planning of a two-day, statewide conference on Reading and Language Development Research, Policies and Practices: Bringing the Pieces Together.
  • Designed the Collaborative-Leadership and Academic Support Systems (CLASS) Project Institute, which promotes an integrative, comprehensive approach to sustain school improvement.
  • Coordinated and facilitated a series of topical workshops on the teaching of reading.
  • Organized and facilitated the review and summary of over 300 early childhood videos for use by GPB in network programming.
  • Provided conference facilitation for two statewide Pre-kindergarten community collaboration conferences.
  • Provided facilitation for four Re-envisioning Early Childhood Conferences; assisted in designing conference concept and content.
  • Producer and writer (with Kate Permuy) of the “Brown Bag Luncheon Series,” which aired over Georgia Public Television; developed training materials accompanying series
  • Assisted in writing and providing technical support to Georgia Academy in producing a Pre-Kindergarten video on “Our Common Threads.”
  • Designed and implemented Project Language Play, an early language and preliteracy development program targeting parents, childcare providers, and preschool teachers.
